SC panel wants 140 roads to be denotified

The Supreme Court appointed monitoring committee has prepared a list of 140 stretches in Delhi, which do not fulfil the criteria for being declared a road meant for commercial and mixed land use. These roads are among 2,183 stretches, which were notified for commercial and mixed land use in 2006. The monitoring committee had submitted a report to the apex court in this connection on April 16.If these 140 roads are de-notified, most of the commercial units running from there may be sealed.A member of the monitoring committee, on condition of anonymity, said, “The civic agencies did not conduct a proper survey before the notification of 2,183 roads, as those meant for commercial and mixed land use, in 2006. So, the court had directed the civic agencies to revisit all these roads along with the monitoring committee and file a proper report.”
