Mumbai’s old development plan to remain in force till Aug-end

The city’s new development plan (2034) will now come into force on September 1, the state government said on Friday. Till then, the existing development plan of 1991 will continue. In the Development Control and Promotion Regulations- 2034, there are 70 regulations. To this the government made 165 changes called as Excluded Plan (EP). Since the EP changed the character of the draft DP-2034 as sanctioned by the BMC general body, the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act requires that the government invite suggestions and objections from the public. The Sanctioned Plan of DP-2034 was to come into force from June 23 but will now be kept in abeyance.
