As sealing resumes in south and west Delhi, traders demand a stay on drive

After a brief gap, the sealing drive resumed in full force in areas of south and west Delhi on Thursday. The posh markets of Greater Kailash (GK) Part-i and Green Park and other areas were targeted by the municipal corporations, where action was carried out following the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. The drive was also conducted near Hyatt Hotel in RK Puram, Uttam Nagar, Raghubir Nagar, GTB Enclave, Dilshad Colony and Shahdara, civic officials said. South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) officials said they sealed 161 establishments, seized 38 vehicles and challaned 12 others for illegally parking their vehicles along roadsides on Tuesday. Apart from this, around 11km of public road was also cleared of encroachments.  As the team of enforcement agencies reached GK’S N block market, the traders flocked around them and did not let them conduct the drive, officials said.
