The ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MOEFC) on Tuesday approved the terms of reference (TOR) for the environmental clearance for the construction of an international airport at Jewar, along the 165km-long Yamuna Expressway, thereby doing away with the last hurdle on the path of this ambitious project. On May 29, the MOEFC had given its verbal approval to the TOR regarding environmental clearance. “Today we have received the TOR approval in writing to take the project ahead. The approval of the TOR for environmental clearance by the MOEFC was the final hurdle, which has now been cleared. The MOEFC will invite objections and suggestions from the general public online for 45 days, and subsequently grant clearance to the project,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida), the nodal agency appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government for the project.
